Meetings takes place on Thursdays for an hour after school, every week throughout the school year. The opportunity for self expression through Art is essential for the artistically inclined students who have no such outlet in their academic schedules and need some time devoted their creativity & artistic practice.
From time to time there are group Art projects where several students are needed to paint or construct for a school/service program. The Art Club Sponsor is Ms. Terri Stokes, Art/Ceramic Instructor: 225-6794, ext: 311.

Engineering/Robotics Club
The Engineering/Robotics club’s purpose is to inspire and interest students in the field of engineering. By increasing their understanding of how engineering is all around us, we will foster an increase in the number of engineers. The club participates in the SA BEST (San Antonio Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) Robotics competition each fall.

Film Club
The Central Catholic Film Club is open to all Central students.  The club meets an hour after school every Wednesday afternoon. Meetings consist of planning sessions, screening sessions and film-related discussions. Members divide into groups for the purpose of making a variety of shorts and features.  Students in each group take turns at being director, cast, and production crew.  The eventual goal is to sponsor a film festival at Central Catholic and to  produce films that will be entered in San Antonio area competitions.

Guardian Angels
This is an organization founded by Brother Martin McMurtrey that promotes an education for service, justice, peace, and change by creating an atmosphere that allows students to become more aware of social justice issues within their community. We do this by collaborating with local parishes to work on frequent Habitat for Humanity Houses. We also sponsor monthly service projects. Some of these include working at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, the San Antonio Food Bank, and a number of other beautification projects around the city.
In addition, we are in charge of coordinating three blood drives per school year. Furthermore, we are responsible for running the Holiday Drive (canned goods and toys which go to nearby Marianist parishes). Last, but not least, we bring in a Marianist Priest or Brother to speak to our students every spring semester about one of the Marianist Missions (such as in Mexico, India, or Africa). We follow that up with a Lenten Drive in which the proceeds go toward that particular mission.

Journalism
Journalism is designed to introduce students to the history and practice of journalism. It examines the key players and events that shape American journalism and its impact on the world. It also aims to give students practical experience in the skills of a journalist – identifying news and features, understanding libel law, conducting research, interviewing, reporting, writing, and copy editing. Students participate in all learning activities and mentor others in the practices of high school journalism.

Students take on leadership roles and responsibilities in creating the school newspaper, “The Pep.” They are expected to produce the paper in a timely manner to serve student readership. Students also create “The Fang,” Central Catholic’s year book.

Physics Club
The objectives of the physics club are to familiarize members with the physics in everyday life, promote physics awareness in the community, and encourage critical thinking as well as creativity. Physics club activities include meetings, service projects, contests and field trips.

Proposed Activities: Rubik’s Cube contest, paper airplane contest, egg drop contest, bridge building contest, physics in action photo contest, Fetch! Lab at San Antonio Children’s Museum, CCHS “Frosh” Fest, and Physics Day at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Spanish Club
The purposes of the Central Catholic High School Spanish Club shall be to (1) promote the use of the Spanish language among native and second language learning speakers, (2) promote knowledge of the Hispanic culture, (3) provide the opportunity to increase campus and community knowledge of the Spanish speaking world, and (4) further the mission of Central Catholic High School to educate in the Marianist tradition young men from diverse backgrounds for success through the development of scholarship, leadership and moral character.
We strive to enrich our student body, faculty, and staff with the Spanish language as well as the culture of the countries in which Spanish is the principal language, through a variety of social activities, both formal and informal and also through community service activities. Club meets with Mrs. Angela Garcia every 1st and 3rd Tuesday after school in room 376

Speech and Debate Club
Speech and Debate offers students a full range of experiences from traditional CX or LD debate, to acting and dramatic reading. Central students involved in Speech and Debate enhance their skills by competing against both public and private school in and around the San Antonio area. Through preparation, students’ skills in argument, acting, performance, research and team work are enhanced. Students also get real world chances to test and measure their abilities against their own peers while building knowledge of literature and global issues. Either through classes, or team practice regularly before school, this club offers students the chance to compete in academic areas, or literary interpretation in a rewarding environment.
