Brother Jim Burkholder Science Department - Lecture Series

On Friday (September 9), Vanessa Gonzales from the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center gave an insightful and emotional talk to a group of more than 30 Central Catholic students.

Her talk focused on the need for more people to donate blood.  She shared with the students in attendance that the blood we donate will go toward helping people fight cancer.  She talked about Noah Adams, a recent Central grad, and his journey.  She discussed her own battle with cancer – and how blood from donations helped save her life.  She even discussed how it was blood from the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center that was used to treat survivors from Uvalde.

Mrs. Gonzales also brought our boy's donuts because the donuts, as she explained, symbolize type O blood (which is used most often in emergencies).  All in all, this was an extremely powerful talk.  Plus, the timing was perfect because Central Catholic will be hosting a blood drive on Monday (September 19)!
