Throughout the month of February, the Guardian Angels were involved in a number of activities in addition to their weekly service projects.
For starters, the Guardian Angels sponsored two different blood drives this month. One was a “traditional” blood drive on Valentine’s Day, while the other was a platelet drive that took placeon February 24. Both drives were successful.
On Thursday, February 23, a group of Guardian Angels (along with Mr. Bendele and Fr. McDaid) teamed up with a group from Providence High School to participate in the annual 40 Cans for Lent event at the Guadalupe Community Center. The moderators from Providence were Coach Denoux and Sr. Melissa. It was a blast being able to interact with the students and moderators from our neighboring sister school. It was also awesome for the guys to be introduced to Mrs. Marti West (the Superintendent for Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese), as well as Bishop Michael Boulette.
As soon as the guys arrived back on campus, they were put to work loading up donations we had collected for Project MEND. Project MEND specializes in providing medical equipment for elderly stroke patients and disabled vets. It was an honor being able to help out Project MEND.
