We are thrilled to announce that The Snake Bytes, Central Catholic's eSports team, is now in its second year of competition. They have not only expanded their horizons but also taken on new challenges by participating in the R20 League at Techport SA and the Vanta eSports League under TAPPS.
The team has been dedicatedly practicing and participating in online weekly competitions across a diverse range of games including Fortnite, Valorant, Rocket League, Apex Legends, Ultimate Super Smash Brothers (USSB), Chess, and Tetris. Their hard work has culminated in an impressive record and strong performances.
Recently on October 14, The Snake Bytes represented our school in the R20 League at TechPort SA, alongside other top high school eSports teams such as Steele, TMI, McCollum, Clark, Holmes, and Harlandale. Senior Rudy Davila led the Valorant team, showcasing exceptional skills alongside David Serda, Jon Saucedo, and Esteban Niño.
Despite playing with one fewer player, they achieved a commendable record of 2-3. The Rocket League team, led by Ethan Winfrey and supported by Albert Alvarado, Beto Payan, and Magnus Zuniga, achieved a solid record of 2-2. Additionally, the Smash Bros Team, headed by junior Isaac Pohl and comprising Mariano Aguilar, Aidan Salazar, Kaleb Hernandez, and Dylan Stone Ramirez, had a unique experience witnessing the annular eclipse during the STEMclipse! 2023 event.
The Snake Bytes continue to participate in the Vanta eSports League and will keep competing throughout the year. We are excitedly looking forward to their next in-person competition scheduled for early November.
Go Snake Bytes!
