Music Appreciation Performance

This week, we want to shine a spotlight on our incredible 5th Period Music Appreciation class in the Band Hall!

This elective course goes beyond the surface of music and dives deep into its history, literature, science, physics, mathematics, and artistry. It's a comprehensive experience for our boys.

Not only do these musicians learn the theory and fundamentals of the arts, but they also have the opportunity to enhance their studies through hands-on learning and playing instruments. It's a well-rounded approach to music education.

Since the beginning of February, these students have diligently studied a percussion ensemble piece called ROCK BLOCKS, composed by Samuel Morton. They've applied their knowledge and skills in areas such as notation, rhythm, reading, and etiquette to their assigned percussion instruments.

We are thrilled to showcase the Music Appreciation class as the Band Hall Highlight of the Week because they recently delivered an impressive and meaningful performance. It's a testament to their hard work and dedication, showing that anyone can produce organized sound and become proficient in music.

What's even more remarkable is that most of these students started with little to no prior experience in music. Now, just a few months into the class, they are well on their way to leaving with far more than just good grades. They have discovered the incredible gift of playing music.

We invite you all to enjoy their outstanding performance of ROCK BLOCKS by clicking on the following link: Watch the performance here.
