Snake Bytes Strike in February

headerOn February 8, 2025, accompanied by Sra. Mendez, Dr. Ballesteros, and family members, the Rocket League Team and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Team competed in the R20 League at the TechPort SA.  The Snake Bytes competed against other eSports teams from local high schools, such as Lutheran HS, South San, New Braunfels HS, Brennan HS, Kennedy HS, STEM Early College HS, Clark HS, Warren HS, and CAST Tech.

This time around, we had two Rocket League Teams, the Blue and White Team.  The Blue Team, led by Ethan Winfrey ‘26, consisted of Michael Acebedo ‘27 and Jose Hernandez ‘27; they went 4-2.  They are ranked in 2nd  place. The White Team, led by Albert Alvarado IV ‘25, consisted of RJ Solis ‘27 and Anthony Paiva ‘28; they are looking to rebound after going 0-6.

The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Team consisted of team captain Isaac Pohl ‘25, Dylan Stone Ramirez ‘27, Zack Vrooman ‘28, Aidan Salazar ‘27, and Raphael Avila ‘28.  On this day, Isaac maintained his Top 32 status for the upcoming finals in April.  He is currently ranked 31st.  Pictured below are Isaac, Aidan, and Raphael warming up for the day’s matches.


The team’s next match will be in April, when the finalists will be determined for May’s Grand Finals. Let’s hope that our teams continue their momentum.

The Snake Bytes have started this Spring season in Vanta.  We are competing in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Chess, Fortnite, Overwatch, Rocket League, and Valorant.  Let’s hope the team continues their success competing in the Vanta League.
